50 Notable NFL Players with Expiring Contracts

50 Notable NFL Players with Expiring Contracts
Untitled Document
It's never too early to look ahead. Our look at notable players from each NFL position whose contract is set to expire after the 2015 season.

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresIt seems extremely unlikely that Russell Wilson (SEA), Eli Manning (NYG) or Philip Rivers (SD) actually find themselves on the open market, but stranger things have happened. For now, they become the players to watch as the 2015 season nears. Other notable names include Sam Bradford (PHI), and Nick Foles (STL), who is reportedly in talks for an extension with the Rams.
Eli Manning 34 NYG $19,750,000
Philip Rivers 33 SD $17,416,668
Sam Bradford 27 PHI $12,985,000
Matt Cassel 33 BUF $4,750,000
Drew Stanton 31 ARI $3,866,668
Ryan Fitzpatrick 32 NYJ $3,250,000
Russell Wilson 26 SEA $1,696,868

Running Backs

2015 is likely the last go around for long-time Bills running back Fred Jackson. That won't be the case for Matt Forte, who still remains a top back in the league (and an elite fantasy option). It's possible his contract is tended to this offseason, but the Bears haven't made mention of it to date. Doug Martin is looking for a bounce-back year in 2015, and could garner a nice sophomore deal should he do so. Alfred Morris might be the most coveted of these backs should he hit the market.
Matt Forte 29 CHI $9,200,000
Fred Jackson 34 BUF $2,731,250
Reggie Bush 30 SF $2,406,250
Doug Martin 26 TB $2,159,668
Alfred Morris 26 WAS $1,572,775

Wide Receivers

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresThe wide receiver crop set to hit the open market after the 2015 season is phenomenal. Two of these players (Bryant, Thomas) are currently sitting on franchise tag offers. While two more (Jones, Green) are set to play out their 5th year option years. Hilton becomes the first of the young Indy core that will need to be paid, while some question whether the Bears might let Jeffery walk.
Dez Bryant 26 DAL $12,823,000
Demaryius Thomas 27 DEN $12,823,000
Julio Jones 26 ATL $10,176,000
A.J. Green 26 CIN $10,176,000
T.Y. Hilton 25 IND $1,673,850
Alshon Jeffery 25 CHI $1,447,036

Tight Ends

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresAge is clearly a factor when considering the long-term futures for Antonio Gates and Vernon Davis, but strong 2015 production should lead to new deals for each (somewhere). Allen and Fleener have both shown above average production in Andrew Luck's offense, but with a growing group of players that need to be signed in Indy, it's not likely both can stay around. Green has been touted as Gates' successor, but he'll need a new deal if that is to be the case.
Antonio Gates 34 SD $9,762,500
Vernon Davis 31 SF $6,967,920
Dwayne Allen 25 IND $1,717,826
Coby Fleener 26 IND $1,699,615
Ladarius Green 25 SD $772,725

Offensive Linemen

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresThis could be a position to watch next free agent season as a number of above average starter contracts are currently set to expire after 2015. Williams and Castonzo had excellent 2014 campaigns, and at 26 years old, figure to be extended long-term. Whitworth may the odd-man-out in a deep Bengals o-line, while Seattle simply may not have the cap space to keep Okung in town. Both of the Ravens' starting guards are set to hit the market in 2016.
Trent Williams 26 WAS OT $14,230,393
Marshal Yanda 30 BAL OG $8,450,000
Anthony Castonzo 26 IND OT $7,438,000
Russell Okung 27 SEA OT $7,280,000
Andrew Whitworth 33 CIN OT $6,200,000
Kelechi Osemele 25 BAL OG $1,064,595

Defensive Linemen

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresIt's tough to imagine any of these players leaving town if they continue to produce at the levels they have in past years. Cameron Jordans' $11M per year deal becomes the floor for many of these young defensive ends, while Marcell Dareus is currently valuing at more than $15M per year for his efforts with the Bills thus far.
Jason Pierre-Paul 26 NYG DE $14,813,000
Haloti Ngata 31 DET DT $8,500,000
Marcell Dareus 25 BUF DT $8,060,000
Cameron Heyward 26 PIT DE $6,969,000
Muhammad Wilkerson 25 NYJ DE $6,969,000
Greg Hardy 26 DAL DE $3,217,850

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresThe Chiefs have quite the situation forthcoming, as three of their most important defensive players have expiring contracts after 2015. They've been in talks with Houston for months, but they haven't come close to the $16M per year he's currently valuing at. At 31 and 32 respectively, Hali and Johnson might stay for cheaper - but could garner more money on the market. Bobby Wagner recently valued at just under $10M per year.
Justin Houston 26 KC OLB $13,195,000
Von Miller 26 DEN OLB $9,754,000
Derrick Johnson 32 KC ILB $5,250,000
Tamba Hali 31 KC OLB $4,964,706
Aldon Smith 25 SF OLB $4,854,875
Bobby Wagner 24 SEA ILB $1,370,663

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresMuch has been made in Cleveland about the status of Tashaun Gipson's contract, but nothing has yet come of it this offseason. Amukamara saw much improvement in 2014, and might be one of the more coveted defensive backs should he hit the market. Weddle has voiced his displeasure over his expiring deal, but he'll earn the 4th most cash among NFL safeties in 2015 still.
Eric Weddle 30 SD S $10,100,000
Sean Smith 27 KC CB $7,750,000
Prince Amukamara 26 NYG CB $6,698,000
Tashaun Gipson 24 CLE S $2,356,000
Casey Hayward 25 GB CB $1,053,154

Special Teams

USATSI_8307179_160074578_lowresGostkowski was slapped with the franchise tag in New England this season, a move that pays him $4.59M - most of any kicker in the game. He'll have trouble finding that much on the market should the Patriots let the 31 year old walk. Tucker has had back to back great seasons in Baltimore, and the Ravens will likely look to extend him long-term in the coming months.
Stephen Gostkowski 31 NE K $4,590,000
Justin Tucker 25 BAL K $2,356,000
Jon Ryan 33 SEA P $1,500,000
Bryan Anger 26 JAC P $875,480
