After an offseason that saw over $1.4 billion in free agent signings, the 2016 MLB season is upon on us. We've broken down the financial figures for the upcoming season by team & position, highlighting how the opening day 25-man payrolls break down. Additionally we've laid out how the 25-man rosters are compiled in terms of Veterans, Arbitration Eligibles, and Pre-Arbs, while also breaking down the offseason spending patterns for each team.

We've also broken things down by positional category for a deeper look, and included a column showing the dollars spent to just the 25-Man rosters that will hit the field today/tomorrow.

Experience Breakdown per Team
Most teams generally carry a balanced mix of young players vs. veterans, while a few standout otherwise.
  • The Brewers lead all teams with 12 Pre-Arbitration eligible players.victory.
  • The Diamondbacks had one of the biggest signings in team history with the addition to Greinke bringing their Veteran total to 6 players (2nd worst), while having the most Pre-Arbitration players.

Offseason Spending per Team
The Dodgers spent nearly $200M in free agency, bringing their leading offseason spending totals north of $221M. They're followed by the Cardinals, Mets, Rockies, and Indians. Conversely, the Tigers were able to sneak through the winter spending just under $20M in total, while the Reds and D-Backs cashed in just $25M.
