162 games and 183 league days later, the financial landscape for most MLB teams has changed drastically. We’ve tracked team payrolls on a daily basis this year, including signings, call ups, trades, & releases to be able to compare the difference between Opening Day 2017 Payrolls vs. Final 2017 Payrolls.
 
The following shows how much each MLB team increased or decreased their 2017 payroll over the course of the season.

Notable Notes

  • The Twins added over $30M in payroll to their 2017 roster, earning a playoff birth in doing so.
  • 4 teams (Cardinals, Mets, Tigers, White Sox) managed to decrease their payroll throughout the year.
  • On average, teams increased payroll by $14.3M
  • The 10 Postseason teams increased payroll by an average of $18.2M.
